Los Angeles, CA: Michael Blakey, President of Electra Star Management and the Organica Music Group today announced the signing of Recycled Percussion to a management agreement with the Los Angeles based entertainment company.
Recycled Percussion is a four member group that began in 1995 when founding member Justin Spencer was looking for a way to be unusually creative for his high school talent show. He took the idea of playing buckets (which he discovered in the subways of NYC) and added more and more instruments to the original formation to create a unique sound. Soon, the band took off, appearing on the cover of USA Today, winning numerous awards and playing over 250 shows a year.
The group continued to tour for over ten years and until they made their national debut on the television show “America’s Got Talent.” It was there that Recycled Percussion became a household name, finishing second runner up in the competition and becoming the highest placed non singing act to ever compete in the program’s history. The group went on to develop a live version of their show with Jerry Springer and spent three months performing at Planet Hollywood in Las Vegas before signing a deal with the MGM Grand to have their own show at the famed casino.
Today, Recycled Percussion (who are made up of members Justin Spencer, Ryan Vezina, Todd Griffin and Matt Bowman) have created the most interactive show in Las Vegas, presenting each audience member with a drumstick and unique instrument which they can use to play along with the band throughout the show which is now housed at The Tropicana Hotel’s Tiffany Theatre. The group has appeared on America’s Got Talent and China’s Got Talent as well as the 2010 Latin Grammy Awards, the World MMA Awards and numerous NBA and NFL halftime shows.
In making the announcement, Blakey states: “I am proud to welcome Recycled Percussion to the Electra Star Management family and believe that together, we will create another successful chapter for the group.”
